Being #Together

Main aur meri tanhai
Aksar ye batein karte hain
Tum hoti to kaisa hota
tum yeh kehti, tum woh kehti
Tum is baat pe hairan hoti
tum us baat pe kitni hasti
tum hoti to aisa hota, tum hoti to waisa hota
Main aur meri tanhai, aksar yeh baten karte hain

These famous lines by the famous Javed Akhtar portrayed on screen by the one and only Amitabh Bachchan expresses that even in his loneliness he is thinking of her; what she would have done if she was with him; if they would have been together. Togetherness brings in so much hopefulness to us. I always look forward to be with people that I love.

At school, I had many friends. I made quick friends. Did we even need someone to be a friend to talk to in school? I would absolutely talk to anybody and everybody. Being together had a completely different meaning in school. I do not remember what we talked about when we were children. Even today, when I see children walking in groups and going together to schools babbling continuously, I wonder what they talk about. I have a little desire to secretly listen to small children talking to each other someday.

In college too, I had many friends but there was this one special friend from the same school with whom I spent a lot of time. We stayed far from college almost at a same place; most of the time we would be, travelling together. We never talked sensible things; for that matter not even discussed what problems we had in our studies since we both had quite a struggle when it came to studies. We discussed stupid things and time would just fly. There was a lot of travelling involved from home to college but we never felt a second of that 100 minute travel. Obviously in the summers, we felt each and every second of that travel filled with sweat but otherwise those 100 minutes would just be matter of seconds.

We parted ways due to work. Meeting each other went on becoming harder with increasing work pressures on both of us at our respective workplaces. At any given time, one of us would have some work due to which we never met. One day, I was going back home from work and there we meet eventually in a crowded local train. It was not decided. It was such a positive evening for us. We were dressed professional and looked smarter than we used to in college but one thing that did not change was that we still discussed stupid things. That meet was a stress buster cum motivator for both of us. We were such fools to be not meeting for so many days. We ate dinner together that night. Time went so fast, we didn't even realize that it was late and we should be heading back home now. I dropped her home. We decided to meet regularly and we kept that promise. We always look forward to meet because that is what keeps us going.
